About the Site Activity Index (SAI)

Explanation of how the Site Activity Index (SAI) works and is calculated. SAI is a metric which measures how much and often a website is updated.

What is the Site Activity Index (SAI)?

The Site Activity Index (SAI) is a metric which measures how much and often a website is updated.

How do I interpret the SAI?

SAI is interpreted as a percentage change. E.g. a SAI of 50% is interpreted as "half of the website content has changed".

To increase comprehensiveness, we give each site (and category) a ⭐-rating. These are based on quartiles during a fixed period. Therefore:

Bad
⭐⭐OK
⭐⭐⭐Good
⭐⭐⭐⭐Very Good
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐Excellent

How is SAI calculated?

The algorithm looks at both text and visual changes of a website’s start page, and compares the changes made from the previous day. An SAI of 100% means that the entire page was changed.

Who is SAI for?

SAI is primarily aimed at marketers and e-commercers. It’s also useful for web development, website builders, and website designers who want to measure theirs, or others, website activity.

What is a “good” SAI value?

The average SAI is 20%. A SAI over that is considered good. The very best websites have an average SAI of over 50%.

Can you analyze my website?

Yes, we can. Please email us at info@siteactivityindex.com. We look forward to hearing from you.
